“Fruit”
with Valentina Raffaelli
Starting from observation as the focal point of the research, during the workshop with the artist Valentina Raffaelli, a fruit was selected, examined and, from it, colourful cards for a winter herbarium were made, using different materials and techniques. Fruits and vegetables are products of nature, which are born from the earth, grow on trees and plants and differ in a surprising variety of tastes, properties and appearance. Delightfully perfect objects in terms of shape, colour, texture as well as essential food and nutrient source for our health. Drawing these details and translating these shapes into graphics represented a fun and ever-changing exercise in exploration and abstraction.
Valentina Raffaelli
Valentina Raffaelli is a designer. She studied architecture between Venice and Paris, specialising in interior design at the Politecnico di Milano. She has been living in Amsterdam for a few years now and works on projects ranging from graphics and illustration to product and interior design. In her projects and her artistic poetics, the relationship with food has become more and more evident. A relationship born out of a personal interest and developed as a form of graphic and formal research and visualisation, which she deals with in her individual projects and in those of the studio she founded with Alice Spadaro: “internoconcucina”.

Workshop
“Small atlas of gestures”
with Sissi
The experience of the workshop held by the artist Sissi was linked to the world of drawing and the observation/comparison of the body and the objects. The work led to the construction of a small atlas of gestures. The objects collected by the children (twigs, leaves, flowers…) were glued and placed alongside the drawing of a part of their body, observed and portrayed as if it were the object.
Sissi
Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Sissi’s artistic research starts with an almost scientific analysis of the human body, borrowing tools from disciplines such as archaeology and anatomy, to arrive at an imaginative dimension, capable of attributing new and unexpected forms and identities to things. Sissi explores different means of expression: performance, installation, photography, drawing, painting and artist’s book. Named Artist of the Year in 2005, she has received prestigious awards such as the New York Prize and the Rome Prize at the American Academy in 2006, and the Gotham Prize from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2012. She has actively collaborated with companies such as Furla, for the Furla&I project, and in 2012 with Elica for the Aspiranti Aspiratori project, curated by the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli.

“Stories of our objects”
with Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia

Starting from the classic “show and tell”, the children in the workshop were asked to bring in and tell about an object that was emotional for them or to which they were linked by a particular event in their lives. This was done to help them redesign the objects, enriching and transforming them according to the stories involved.
Sovrappensiero Design Studio
This Milanese design studio was established in 2007 thanks to the creative partnership between Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia. Their first project, entitled “Design for blind people”, was presented at the Salone Satellite in 2008. Since then, their work has been characterised by continuous research, between experimentation and industrial production, and has always been marked by their delicate and dreamlike poetics. Recognised as one of the most interesting emerging designers on the Italian scene, they collaborate with various Italian design companies such as Prada, Incipit, Corraini, WayPoint and Manerba. In addition to product design, they work with interior and exhibition design, communication and teaching at the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Bologna.
